Organization of the Site

(helpme article updated 7/13/05)

There are four areas of navigation,

  • the top of the page (two areas), and
  • the LEFT column.

and on the

right-hand column of the page

you will find clues to the currently active sections. This chapter will provide only an overview of the ways to access different content and to navigate the site. Other chapters below will go into more detail.

About the top menus.

There's a group of Main Areas which will lead you to the main TYPES of content (e.g. blog, file, forum, documentation).  Then (on the top line) are links to a few additional areas of interest but of less frequent use such as the "My Account" link.

Navigation in the Left Column.

  • Quik Nav:
  • Some areas, especially the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) that should be read first and (perhaps) frequently.

  • Your Username & Primary Navigation:
  • This shows your username once you're logged in, some main navigation links and the link for you to create original content.

  • Main Topics: This section lists the topical category where any blog entry has been made.
  • Forum Topics:  This section lists topics available in the discussion forum area.
  • Create Content:  From here you can add content such as a blog entry, a page of information, upload a file, etc.
  • Directory:  this is a site map, also accessed from the top-most menu.
  • Other fairly self-explanatory items follow.
  • and then additional main navigation links may be added from time to time.

The right-hand column shows activity.

It is dynamically updated to show such things as the most active items, forum topics containing activity, recent blog entries, etc. It's fairly self-explanatory. It also includes the photo gallery items. Just click around and explore.
