WorldConnect  will allow uploading your .ged files. Displays the info in quite a few ways. The site gets indexed so your data will become part of the "World Connection" on the world wide web.  WorldConnect is part of www.ancestry.com but hosting your file is free there.

 Rootsweb will host your family tree site for free. You can also simply register an existing site there.  There are also search engines and indexes by surname to websites.
