Claude Lanier Jones 1872–1954

Claude Lanier Jones was born on August 17, 1872, in Caddo Gap, Arkansas, his father, Alfred, was 44 and his mother, Jane, was 35. He married Annie Olive Stevens – Jones on January 6, 1897, in Magnolia, Mississippi. They had two children during their marriage. He died in March 1954 in Shreveport, Louisiana, at the age of 81.

Claude Lanier Jones  served as founder and pastor of the Central Christian Church in Shreveport, Louisiana from 1898 to 1923.

Friends of Rev. and Mrs. Claude L. Jones will deeply sympathize with them in the loss of their little five months old adopted daughter, Annie C. Jones, who died this morning at 3 o’clock at the Jones home, 835 Olive street. The funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 o’clock and the interment will be at Oakland cemetery.
