Johnathan was born in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, lived there until about age 6, and then lived in Linfield, Pennsylvania. His twin brother, Lawrence, died at age 16 from a rare brain tumor.

Johnathan graduated from Spring Ford High School in Linfield and then worked several places, including a tree company, Sears, and as groundskeeper for a retirement home. He went back to school in the ’90s and received a degree in landscape design from Temple University in Philadelphia in 1995.

Jonathan is married to Sue Smith, who has two children from a former marriage to Robert Kanewske: Christian, who is 27 and lives in Philadelphia, and Renee, who is 28, married to Ahkbar Tajudeen, and lives in Virginia.

Jonathan and Susie recently moved to St. Petersburg Beach, Florida, to be with Jonathan’s mother, Merle Nessle. Jonathan is currently working as groundskeeper for a condominium.

Susie has had a 20-year career in dentistry and has begun studying for her Florida licence as a dental hygienist.
