A. R. “Bobby” Henderson

A. R. “Bobby” Henderson, oldest child of Persis Jones and Aaron Robinson Henderson, was born December 8, 1920, in Groesbeck, Texas. He was married November 8, 1944, in Hollywood, California, to Mildred Eileen “Midge” Gibson, born September 25, 1924 in Parkersburg, West Virginia.

Bob and Midge had four children: Mary Ann Henderson, born December 31, 1945, in Mexia, Texas; Robin Heredith Henderson, born June 21, 1947, in Mart, Texas; Joe Berly Henderson, born June 30, 1951, in Fort Benning, Georgia; and Frances Henderson, born May 23, 1955, in Houston, Texas.

Bobby graduated from Groesbeck High School in 1938 and attended Lon Morris Junior College in Jacksonville, Texas. He served in the armed forces from 1940-45. Then he was called back into the Korean War as a paratrooper.

He worked at a Christian Radio Station in Minneapolis, selling advertising, and then worked for a trade journal.

When the family moved back south, he studied at the Southern Baptist Seminary and was ordained by Queensbury Baptist Church in Shreveport for a rescue ministry there.

He currently serves as superintendent of the rehabilitation program at Union Rescue Mission farm in Hagerstown, Maryland. His son Joe recently has joined him in that ministry and serves as resident manager.

Bobby has been married for nearly 52 years to Midge. They have four children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
