(Story written by family members in 1996 for Arthur W. Jones Family Scrapbook)

Miriam and Fritz were fortunate enough to have 68 years of marriage. They met and married at the Oak Cliff Christian Church in Dallas. They lived in Dallas where Fritz was employed by H. Dorsey Douglas. In 1926 they moved to Oklahoma City for a new job for Fritz. They were charter members of the Crown Heights Christian Church. Both were always active in the Christian Church and other civic duties.

In 1958 when they found they needed a little help in living, they moved to Edmond, Oklahoma, owning a small house on the grounds of the Oklahoma Christian Home. They were so proud of being able to take charge of their lives as they aged. They later moved into the home itself where they lived the rest of their lives in Christian love.

Billy attended Central High School in Oklahoma City and Oklahoma Military Academy in Claremore. He joined the 45th Division of the U.S. Army and trained in Alabama in the summer and Waterville, New York, in the winter. In August 1944 he stepped on a land mine in St. Lo, France. Before he left for overseas he married Joan Mount of Oklahoma City, who survives.
