Pat graduated from Austin High School in 1949, then attended the University of Texas from 1949-1951. She married Dewain Perry in June 1951. He had a two-year-old daughter, Kathy Perry, from a former marriage, but she lived with her mother. Pat and Dewain moved to West Texas to manage the Moore Ranch near Valentine. Three of their children were born while they lived at the ranch. They moved from there in April 1956 and lived in Austin, Seymour, Nocona, Big Lake, El Dorado, Eden, and Big Spring, Texas, while Dewain worked in construction. They moved back to Austin, and Dewain worked in construction and with Pat’s brother-in-law, Billy Hill, in the trucking business. He was on a construction job in Houston when he died in 1972.

Pat stayed busy all those years raising children. After Dewain’s death, she took classes in typing, bookkeeping, and office machines in the fall of 1972, then went to work for the Texas Department of Human Services March 1, 1973. She worked her way up from a clerk to an accountant and retired after 20 years of service on September 30, 1993. In retirement, she worked part time as an accountant at Seton Hospital in Austin. She also volunteered as receptionist at Central Christian Church,  where she has been a member since she was a child.

She enjoys country music and dancing, and traveling with her friend Joe. She always enjoys her children and grandchildren, and now she has a great-grandchild, Amanda Hall, born in August 1995.

Add: In 2004, Pat moved to Marble Falls, Texas, to be near two of her high-school friends. They look after each other and enjoy activities in the hill country.
